It is with profound sadness that we share with you the passing of one of the Falmouth Theatre Guild’s brightest stars and one absolute best humans to ever be a part of our theater family, Matthew Gould.

A Lifetime Member of FTG, no one was more dependable or loyal than Matt. He was involved in countless aspects of theater over his 40+ year involvement. His technical knowledge with both lighting and sound have been invaluable to the Guild. He designed and built sets, stage managed, and served on stage crew. He was an excellent actor, landing iconic roles such as Harold Hill in “The Music Man,” Bernardo in “West Side Story,” Sky Masterson in “Guys and Dolls,” and more recently, Frankenstein’s Monster in “Young Frankenstein,” and Georges in “La Cage Aux Follies” – just to name a few.

A pillar of strength during his many years on the Board of Directors, Matthew served as President of the Guild as well. Matt was the 2012 recipient of FTG’s Gilly Award, an award that honors dedication to our group- and no one could be more deserving. Even as his health declined, Matthew gave everything he could to FTG- you could not keep him away. His passing has left an indelible void that will never be filled.

To Davien, Louisa, Morgan, and the rest of the Gould family: we grieve with you and hold you all in our hearts. Matthew was an exemplary husband, father, and friend to us all. He will be sorely missed.

Please keep Matthew, his family, and friends in your thoughts during this sad time. Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1 – 4 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 584 West Falmouth Highway, West Falmouth, MA

In lieu of flowers, Matthew’s family is requesting donations be made in his memory to the Falmouth Theatre Guild, and if he were here, he would know exactly how we should spend it. Please write in the notes that your gift is in honor of Matthew Gould.
